🌱 About the retreat

Kum Nye is a gentle movement-meditation practice introduced to the West by Tibetan teacher Tarthang Tulku. While it involves simple movements, it is not exercise or stretching. Instead, it is a practice of embodiment - connecting with our sensations, feelings, thoughts and the body itself.

This day retreat will be held as a calm, trauma-informed space. Through a small number of Kum Nye practices, guided sitting, and reflective prompts we’ll explore how movement and stillness can help settle the nervous system and support greater ease, presence and responsiveness in everyday life.

Modern neuroscience shows that mindful movement practices like Kum Nye can help us self-regulate the nervous system. Instead of being stuck in survival energy (fight, flight or freeze), we can learn to reconnect with our natural spaciousness 🌿 and meet life’s challenges with more balance and resilience.

🌄 The venue

The retreat will take place in Myddfai Community Hall, a spacious, light-filled venue surrounded by fields and hills. The hall is part of a village with a long association with healing traditions, and offers a simple, quiet environment to support our practice.

🍲 The on-site café will be open for lunch and refreshments, or you are welcome to bring your own food.

🌸 What to bring

There will be around 10 yoga mats available in the hall, as well as chairs for sitting.

Please feel free to bring anything that helps you feel comfortable, such as:

  • Your own cushion or zabuton if you prefer to sit on the floor
